Amazingly enough, the country is on a modest but real winning streak: We have won gold medals in two consecutive Olympiads. In the wake of Carlos Yulo’s double gold, the question over support for sports with Olympic potential has become even more pointed.
The singer-actress Agot Isidro was one of the first to ask the question: “Can we reduce sponsorship and funding from basketball, and allocate it to gymnastics, boxing, and weightlifting instead?”
Is it possible? And should that be the case?
