CEBU, Philippines – Cebu City Councilor Nestor Archival will assume Cebu City’s top post after being declared the winner in the elections on Monday, May 12.
Archival garnered 232,770 votes, based on partial, unofficial results of the Commission on Elections (Comelec). As of 11:58 pm, more than 75.06% of votes were transmitted.
Based on data from the Commission on Elections for this year’s polls, there are about 721,469 registered voters in Cebu City, with Barangay Guadalupe registering more than 31,000 voters.
Archival received support from the Bando Osmeña–Pundok Kauswagan (BO–PK), a local party led by former Cebu City Mayor Tommy Osmeña.
Archival’s victory also marks the return of the BO–PK grasp on the city’s leadership since Osmeña’s watch. The latter last served as Cebu’s mayor from 2016 to 2019. – Rappler.com
