MANILA, Philippines – The question of every athlete, sports manager, sports fan, and sports enthusiast is always this: What does it take to make a champion? As witnessed in the triumphs of Hidilyn Diaz and Caloy Yulo in the past Olympics, we learn that the secret to the making of champions is not just training and strategy — it is also food and nutrition.
In this episode of HOMESTRETCH, show host Pató Gregorio is joined by doctor of culinary medicine and sports nutrition, Jo-Ann Tan, and olympic nutrition coach, Jeaneth Aro. They talk about their role as nutrition coaches and culinary medical workers in nurturing well-performing athletes. They also share wins in their careers, and what they think about different food and nutrition myths.
HOMESTRETCH aims to tell the stories of people that inspire us with their struggles and triumphs, and the places that help define our spirit as a nation.
Co-presented by Rappler and Duckworld, HOMESTRETCH is hosted by sportsman and tourism advocate Pató Gregorio.
