LOS ANGELES, USA āĀ TitoĀ Jackson, founding member of the popular Black American Motown group TheĀ JacksonĀ 5 with his brothers, died on Sunday, September 15, at the age of 70, his family said.Ā
TheĀ JacksonĀ 5 was a band of teenage and pre-teen siblings MichaelĀ Jackson, JackieĀ Jackson, JermaineĀ Jackson, MarlonĀ JacksonĀ andĀ TitoĀ Jackson. They were managed by their father, JoeĀ Jackson, and produced several hits including āI Want You Back,ā āABCā and āIāll Be There.ā
TitoĀ Jacksonās sons, TJ, Taj and Taryll, confirmed on Monday, September 16, that their father had died. No cause of death was provided.
āWe are shocked, saddened and heartbroken,ā they wrote in anĀ Instagram post on Monday. āOur father was an incredible man who cared about everyone and their well-being. Some of you may know him asĀ TitoĀ JacksonĀ from the legendaryĀ JacksonĀ 5, some may know him as āCoachĀ Titoā or some know him as āPoppa Tā,ā they added.Ā
āHe will be missed tremendously. It will forever be āTitoĀ Timeā for us,ā they added.
TheĀ JacksonĀ 5 was nominated for two Grammys and inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1997.Ā
TitoĀ Jackson, known for his skill on rhythm guitar, launched a solo career in 2003 performing blues music.Ā
